Namah Blasts PNG Government Over ‘serious’ Indonesian Border Issues

The PNG/Indonesia Border Treaty was debated by MPs in Parliament before it adjourned.
Vanimo Green MP Belden Namah during debate criticised PNG government officials for failing to secure national interests during border liaison meetings.
Border liaison meetings are called to manage border issues.
Meanwhile Morobe Governor Luther Wenge told Parliament the 2007 UN Declaration On Indigenous Peoples Rights ratified by the General Assembly stops the PNG/Indonesia Border Treaty to be implemented correctly.
He said Parliament is yet to ratify the 2007 UN Declaration On Indigenous Peoples Rights.
Governor Wenge questioned how self - determination for indigenous people in West Papua covered under the 2007 UN Declaration On Indigenous Peoples Rights can be defined by both countries.
